A musical portrait of a historical spot on the Missouri River in Kansas City. The fanfare opening and second theme are derived from the authentic Indian song, The Sun Worshippers while the lyrical main theme depicts the river with undulating lines in the inner voices. After a percussion break a spirited allegro depicts the pioneers activities of moving west. (6 minutes 15 seconds)
